The United Way Alexis de Tocqueville Society reunites the leaders in our communities – both as philanthropists and in their respective industries. They are the kind of people who realize they have achieved the success that so many others are striving to obtain; and that success also calls for a higher sense of social responsibility.
Worldwide, the Society gathers over 25.000 members and was founded more than 35 years ago to recognize and encourage individual contributions of over 10.000$ per year.
From its roots in the US, the Tocqueville Society has been replicated in only two European countries – in France, where it is presided by Jean-Guillaume de Tocqueville d’Hérouville, Alexis de Tocqueville’s descendant and a champion of philanthropy himself, and in Romania.
