In 1887, a group of responsible people founded in Denver, Colorado an organization that has since acquired international dimensions and is called the United Way. They realized the need to pool the available resources to solve the welfare problems in their community.

United Way is one of the largest privately funded nonprofit organization in the world, improving the lives of 48 million people each year with the help of 1.4 million volunteers and 5 million donors who contribute a total of $4 billion.
The organization is present in over 1,100 communities across more than 30 countries and territories worldwide. Every year, United Way partner companies and their employees, along with donors and volunteers, help people facing various challenges achieve a better life.
