In 1887, a group of responsible people founded in Denver, Colorado an organization that has since acquired international dimensions and is called the United Way. They realized the need to pool the available resources to solve the welfare problems in their community.
United Way Worldwide comprises a network of nearly 1,200 local organizations in nearly 40 countries. To build real communities – strong and united – we focus our efforts on improving education, supporting financial stability and promoting healthy lifestyles by mobilizing millions of people who donate, support our causes and become volunteers in the communities where they live.
Every year, the partner companies and their employees, donors and volunteers, contribute over 5 billion dollars to help people in difficulty have a better life. Which makes United Way the largest nonprofit organization in the world.
