Being raised in state instituions, without parents, it was difficult for Andrea to get where she is now. But with a lot of effort and support from the United Way`s income program team, she managed to create a path for herself to follow.
She is an example of courage and will who proves daily that everything is possible when you really want it. When she first entered a flower shop, Andreea didn’t know what to expect. A 19-year-old girl, raised in the welfare system, she had no knowledge of plants or flowers. The internship, facilitated by the professionals of the socio-professional integration program, came with many challenges, but also with success. Every task she was given was carried out with enthusiasm and her results were outstanding.
She worked carefully, with the care that flowers need. “We have had people in practice before, but we haven`t met someone like her, we did not expect her to get involved so much, especially since all her work was not motivated by the financial side,” says the florist’s coordinator. “She is exactly the kind of person we need here, because she really gets involved, understands the meaning of a team and relates well. Of course, she still has things to learn, but we must not forget that she is just at the beginning of the journey. If she wants to, after practice, we welcome her to our team.” And so it happened. Andreea got a job at the flower shop.
The United Way`s program provided Andrea with all the resources she needed to build a successful career, from job training and career counseling to support her in finding a stable job. Andrea’s life has changed for the better since being in the program. Thanks to her stable job, she is financially independent. At this point, she saves money, regularly attends psychological therapy sessions to overcome her childhood traumas, and has the courage to express her emotions in a constructive way. In the future, Andreea sees herself working in a flower shop and dreams of moving into a rented house and starting a family.
