As children, Marian and his siblings had a difficult life. But thanks to the educational program of the center supported by United Way, things have changed dramatically. Marian is now 23 years old. He grew up with other children from the center, where he received homework help and warm meals, which are so important for a child’s development. Here, together with his peers, he discovered the world through formal and non-formal education activities.

When he entered high school he was already passionate about computer science and everything that means technology. He followed the mathematics specialization – intensive computer science, followed his way to the IT field and later entered the Faculty of Energetics within the Polytechnic University. He is now a student in the fourth year and has been working in this field as a designer for two years.

Before he found his vocation, he had an encounter that changed his perspective. In the 8th grade, he met a volunteer who guided him and gave him valuable advice. “One day, the volunteer I was interacting with, took me out to see a movie. I was very grateful and asked him why he was doing all these things for me. He told me that he likes to share his experience and that he hopes that I can find a way to help others.”While he was a beneficiary of the educational center, he met many volunteers and each of them contributed something in his life, and this meant a lot at that time. Until he met these people, he didn’t know that when he will grow up, he would help others in turn. Now he knows he will support people in need, as others have supported him.
