Gabriela, intelligent and curious, encountered difficulties in integrating into the collective at school. Family problems made it more difficult for her to adapt and her lack of self-confidence prevented her from making friends.

Everything changed when Gabriela entered the educational program supported by United Way. Here, she received the support she needed to overcome his shyness and improve her school performance. With the help of volunteers, she was able to better understand the subjects and connect with the other children.Educational support, help with homework, remedial activities, warm meals, all contributed to the girl’s progress. At the same time, the child and her family received material support (school supplies, clothes, hygiene and food products etc.).

By participating in individual psychological counseling sessions that gave her the opportunity to discover important things about herself, Gabriela learned to see her inner resources to develop emotionally and, step by step, she managed to integrate and to be accepted in the group she belonged to.Currently, Gabriela is a student in the ninth grade at a high school with an economic profile and continues the process of self-knowledge with the specialists in the program, by participating in vocational counseling sessions to discover her skills and passions that will help her to find a suitable career in the future.

Gabriela`s mother was always next to, who, being also part of the program, benefited from a qualification course in the field of cosmetics, facilitating her employment in the field.Gabriela’s journey is just beginning. With the knowledge gained and the support received, she is ready to build an independent and fulfilling life.
