Petru is a 27 years old successful professional, but when he was a child, his parents needed support to overcome some difficult situations and to raise their children the way they wanted. That’s how they ended up asking for the help of the center from the United Way educational program, where Petru, along with his three brothers, was supported not only with homework, but to have a childhood like the other children.

The presence at the educational center, he says today, laid his foundation in terms of thinking, communication and education development. He became a volunteer himself and experienced what giving back without expectations means. “As a volunteer I had the opportunity to experience what it means for someone to trust you. I hadn’t felt that before.”

By the age of 27, he obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degree at the Polytechnic University, Industrial Engineering program (in English). He studied one year with Erasmus+ program, at the best university in Portugal, for two and a half months he was an intern at a research laboratory and brought a new concept in logistics to Romania. Now he is a programmer in a corporation where he had the opportunity to lead an IT project after only one and a half years of activity. The fact that he got help when needed, made him want more from life, to offer help too, to give others what he received: “to look back willing to help, because somewhere there is surely someone who would need such help. Basically, I learned what a difference the right help at the right time can make in a child’s life.”
