At school, Mihaela did not get along well with some subjects. Both mathematics in middle school and chemistry in high school were the subjects that challenged her. Everything changed when Mihalea was accepted into the educational program supported by United Way.
Here, she benefited from homework support, remedial activities and numerous non-formal activities that developed her communication and relationship skills, but also increased her self-confidence. The constant participation in educational support sessions helped Mihaela to understand the school requirements, to make progress in the subjects in which she had problems, and the grades obtained, as well as the words of praise addressed by the teachers, gave her the courage to become even more ambitious and wanting to finish high school and even go to college.
Mihaela and her family also received psychological support and social counseling when they struggled with a difficult diagnosis. Fortunately, she got over that period well. In the meantime, Mihaela graduated high school, prepared intensively for admission to the Faculty of Psychology and managed to fulfill her dream, to be a support to other people in difficult times. She is interested in understanding, discovering, being part of the lives of those around her.
Adolescence brought her difficulties and challenges, but now she is a responsible adult who supports the younger colleagues at the center as a volunteer. She offers them patience and understanding, appreciation and generosity and contributes to their cognitive and emotional development, just as the specialists from the educational project supported by United Way Romania did for her when she needed it.
