Zdenek Romanek – President & CEO, Raiffeisen Bank Romania
Passionate about technology and the impact of digitalization on the banking industry, Zdenek Romanek has over 20 years of experience in financial services and management consulting. Since 2022, he is the President & CEO of Raiffeisen Bank Romania, and prior to taking office, he gained extensive international leadership expertise in several countries in Europe and the US. For almost 7 years, he was a member of the Management Board and Vice President Retail at Slovenska Sporitelna, responsible for coordinating the bank’s digitization, and being involved in Erste Group’s digital strategy and transformation. He was also responsible for the Erste Group bancassurance business.
Born in north Moravia, the Czech Republic, he holds two master’s degrees, in Computer Science at Charles University, and in Insurance and Banking at Prague University of Economics and Business, and an MBA from INSEAD.
Zdenek Romanek began his career as an IT freelancer, later moving to business consulting with companies such as KPMG and McKinsey, and then to managerial positions in financial sectors.
