On June 21 we celebrated ‘Day of Action’2013 – United Way’s global volunteering event that brings together volunteers, donors and the people we help through our social projects.
Congratulations and thank you to more than 630 United Way Romania volunteers who spent June 21st doing good in their communities! Day of Action brought many smiles and volunteers involved in actions to facilitate access to education to children coming from low income families and to children with disabilities.

Summer edu-kits for 1,000 children helped by United Way Romania
Partner companies and their volunteers mobilized to offer the children helped by United Way a set of school supplies and books to stay in contact with education during the summer break.
We thank to all our partners who chose to support education on Day of Action with us: Accenture, Achieve Global, Allianz Tiriac, Arobs Transilvania Software, BNP Leasing Solutions, CMS Cameron McKenna, DLA Piper, Electronic Arts, Eli Lilly, Genpact Cluj, GlaxoSmithKline, JW Marriott, Kinstellar, Metro Cash&Carry, Raiffeisen Bank and Romtelecom. Through their joint efforts, the 630 volunteers collected school supplies and money that total 1,000 edu-kits to be distributed to children helped by United Way in Bucharest, Cluj and Timisoara.
Educational and fun activities with children
Day of Action was a day of entertainment and fun for more than 1
50 underprivileged children supported by United Way to stay in school. They benefit from educational support and counseling in day care centers supported by United Way in Bucharest and Cluj.
Groups of volunteers from GlaxoSmithKline together with children, visited in Bucharest and Cluj museums, Botanical Garden and the Zoo and then they enjoyed the lunch together.
Renovated space, better fitted for children
Other groups of volunteers in Bucharest and Timisoara were involved in renovation and refurbishing activities at day care center so that children attending them can have a better suited environment for study.
